The latest version of the Gamebryo engine expands its support of DirectX10 and Wii along with various middleware integrations.

Emergent Game Technologies today announced the launch of its latest Gamebryo middleware. Gamebryo 2.6 offers more than 10 middleware partner integrations and "major additions" to the core technology. Part of that includes greater cross-platform support, with particular emphasis on the Wii and DirectX10. The new Gamebryo also includes an improved animation system "for higher performance on modern hardware."

Emergent said that Gamebryo 2.6 is "part of the company's plan to be an essential driver in advancing the way games are made." The Gamebryo engine is currently used worldwide in more than a dozen different genres on current console and PC platforms.

"Gamebryo enables developers to get cross-platform titles to market quickly no matter what type of game they are making. We have architected Gamebryo for the next 2 generations of Game Development and 2.6 is just the beginning," said Geoffrey Selzer, CEO, Emergent Game Technologies. "Our flexible, modular and extensible architecture means that our customers and partners can customize and expand Gamebryo's capabilities to their needs easily, quickly and with confidence of stability. This saves them time and money while reducing risk."
